The Oberoi Group has vaccinated all eligible staff of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, Trident Hotels, and Oberoi Flight Services with at least one round of vaccination. The organization has also vaccinated contractual employees working in assorted hotels. This development comes in light of the tourism and corporate travel industry gaining momentum with the easing of travel restrictions.
Sanjiv Kapoor, President, The Oberoi Hotels & Resort Group, said, “Vaccination would ensure the safety of our employees. It will also instil confidence in everyone who interacts with them, including our visitors. Hygiene, well-being, and protection of workers and guests are of utmost importance for the revival of the hospitality industry, largely dependent on creating a protected atmosphere for the guests.”
The hospitality group has also tried to educate their employees on the process of getting vaccinated to ease the fear of getting the jab, i.e., vaccine hesitancy, in the workers.
“Vaccination can not only make our staff and guests safer, but it can also send a positive message to society. Our coaching managers have been informed, and we are sharing all vaccine-related information with them,” says Kapoor.
He went on to say that governments at all levels, both centre and state, should allow those who are fully vaccinated to travel freely without the need for testing or quarantine. “Only after the travel industry has been vaccinated across the board can it begin to recover,” Kapoor stated.
